Advocacy and legal fireworks to declare armed bandits terrorists have gotten certification. The
speed at which FGN acted and secure the ruling was quite impressive. This is the first time
advocacy that commenced from a microscopic few attracted FGN’s supersonic-like actions.
Many citizens are running heart warm analyses since getting this comic relief news . Surprisingly
I’m to see a commentary that stretched the discourse to a height where the declaration will give
government the impetus to liquidate them.
I‘m not optimistic like my compatriots because there are groups that have been since declared
terrorists (Boko Haram & ISWA ) and recognized as such by the global community, long ago.
Declaring such organizations as terrorist clubs didn’t give the government the power to annihilate
them—- how can this pronouncement make a difference?
Let me pose these simple questions: is the declaration coming with strategy and tactics not
known by our security agencies before? Will it give the military or whoever high morale that will
lead to gallant combat? Will it improve the quality of intel and interagency fraternity that seems
to be lacking? Do they have any pedigree in eliminating groups considered terrorists?
Why are Nigerians mentally wretched and outrageously gullible? Why are we allowing leaders
and their surrogates record cheap political points on something we know that will not positively
change anything?
Truly, we’re very mundane and an unserious bunch.
